Trump dismisses death rumors, asserts he was 'very active' during the weekend

Trump Addresses Health Speculation

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump attempted to clarify rumors circulating on social media about his health, asserting that he was “very active” during Labor Day weekend.

“I didn’t do anything for two days, and they said, ‘There must be something wrong with him,'” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, calling the speculation about his condition “fake news.”

The discourse surrounding Trump’s health began Friday evening, following a surge of unfounded rumors that ignited over Saturday morning. These were fueled by his sparse public schedule and images showing bruises on his hands.

The online frenzy calmed after Trump was seen leaving the White House with his grandson on Saturday, heading to a golf club in Virginia, dressed casually in a white polo shirt and a red “Make America Great Again” hat.

“I was very active over the weekend. I went out to visit some people at a club that I own quite nearby on the Potomac River. No, I was very active,” Trump highlighted, even drawing a sharp contrast with President Joe Biden.

“You’re not going to see him (Biden), and no one ever mentioned anything being wrong,” Trump remarked. “And we all know he wasn’t in the greatest form.”

In a previous comment from July, White House spokesperson Caroline Leavitt stated that Trump’s hand bruises resulted from “frequent manual work and aspirin use,” while noting mild swelling in his legs was a “benign and common condition” for individuals over 70.

“Importantly, there was no evidence of deep venous thrombosis or arterial disease,” she added, assuring that Trump’s doctors reported no signs of heart failure, kidney damage, or systemic illness.

Trump’s doctor, US Navy Colonel Sean Barbabera, previously indicated in April that the president was in “excellent health.” His medical report detailed key health metrics, such as his height, weight at 224 pounds, resting heart rate of 62 beats per minute, blood pressure of 128/74 mmHg, and a pulse rate of 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit.
