The NFL has officially acknowledged a play many teams would prefer to forget. The “Tush Push,” favored by the Eagles, not only prevailed in a league-wide vote earlier this year but has also earned a sponsorship deal with Dude Wipes.
According to a statement from Dude Wipes, the company and the Eagles will host events during the 2025 NFL season. There will be joint social media content, product samples for fans, and features on postgame radio shows that celebrate the team’s successful use of the Tush Push.
The Eagles’ mascot, Swoop, even appeared in a promo video and was seen “tackling” a mascot representing Dude Wipes. It was a light-hearted moment that showed off both brands.
This particular play, sometimes referred to as “The Sneak of the Brothers,” has proven effective for gaining those crucial 1-2 yards needed for a first down.
Despite its success, back in April, the Packers suggested a ban on the Tush Push, which was discussed until May. They believed the play lacked skill and was detrimental to the game.
Mark Murphy, the Packers’ president, expressed his concerns in a Q&A on the team’s website, stating, “Plays like this diminish the value of traditional quarterback sneaks.” He argued that reintroducing a ban would preserve the integrity of the game.
Interestingly, the proposal to outlaw the play fell short, gathering only 22 votes, just shy of the 24 needed for a ruling change. Notably, the Ravens, Patriots, Jets, and Lions were among the teams that sided with the Eagles to keep the Tush Push in play.
