The father of Florida linebacker Ethan Pritchard shared distressing information regarding the shooting that left his son injured after the team’s surprising win over Alabama. The freshman athlete was shot in the back of his head while driving and is currently hospitalized in Tallahassee, Florida, according to his father, who spoke with WFTV.
“He was just taking her sister to her daughter’s place,” Earl Pritchard recounted. “They turned the corner, and right then, they heard a gunshot.” The incident occurred while Ethan was driving his aunt home from a family gathering in Havana, Florida. The authorities are reportedly still looking into theincident.
Ethan had played high school football at Seminole High School in Sanford, Florida, where he earned a four-star recruit status. He was ranked 437th in the 247Sports Composite and placed 507th in ON3 industry rankings. According to ESPN, he was considered the 64th best player in Florida and ranked 39th among linebackers nationally.
During his senior year, he contributed significantly to Seminole High School, helping them reach the regional finals for the second consecutive year with 39 tackles over nine games. In his junior year, he recorded 75 tackles and had a fumble recovery, as the team finished 10-3. Interestingly, he started his high school career as a safety before transitioning to linebacker in his sophomore year.
Ethan Pritchard committed to Florida State University in October 2023, opting for the Seminoles over other programs like Miami and UCF.
