Robin Westman, a transgender shooter from Minnesota, recently referred to his long-term girlfriend as “furry.”
The 23-year-old, who horrifically killed two children and injured 18 others at a Catholic school in Minneapolis, reportedly ended his relationship with his partner shortly after last week’s tragic events, according to his father.
The girlfriend has been identified as 22-year-old Abigail Bodick, who was seen on social media donning cat ears and whiskers at an anime convention this year.
Documents associated with Westman reveal that he frequently mentioned individuals named “Abby” and “Monastery.” He expressed a fascination with “fur” and the idea of dressing up as cartoon animals.
In his writings, Westman shared conflicted feelings about himself, stating, “I like sexy and cute moods, but my face doesn’t match my feelings. I hate my face… maybe that’s why I like it so much. You can give yourself a new body and face.”
Emails from as early as 2022 showcased photos of the couple seemingly enjoying time together, capturing moments at craft fairs, a Renaissance fair, and an aquarium.
Details surrounding their breakup are unclear, but Westman’s father reported that his son had recently ended his significant relationship after the shooting.
Prior to the incident, Westman penned several indifferent remarks, expressing regret about his past decisions. He described Bodick in a rather dismissive tone, saying, “Abby is such a baby. I’d never have started dating them.”
Moreover, he referred to his girlfriend as a “catalyst” and “the root of my suffering.”
Investigations into the shooting’s motives are ongoing, revealing the tragic loss of Fletcher Merkel, 8, and Harper Moysky, 10, during the incident, after which Westman took his own life.
