Angel Reese faces suspension following her eighth technical foul of the season

Angel Reese has been sidelined for a game after receiving her eighth technical foul of the season. Under WNBA regulations, accumulating this number of fouls leads to an automatic suspension without exemption.

Last season, Reese managed to avoid an eighth foul, finishing with 7-22 games. The foul in question occurred during a rebound tussle with Aaliyah Edwards, where Reese seemingly backhanded Edwards’ head while fighting for position.

Looking ahead, the Chicago Sky are set to play against the Indiana Fever on Friday. Both Reese and teammate Kate Linklark are currently dealing with ongoing groin injuries.

In their recent matchup, the Sky secured a 88-64 win over the Connecticut Sun. This victory marked the tenth for Chicago this season against twenty losses. Before the game, Reese voiced her frustration with the current season.

Michelle Obama recently commented on Reese, noting her determination. Reese expressed a desire to remain with the team throughout her career, but acknowledged the potential need for change if things don’t progress positively. She emphasized the importance of acquiring top talent, indicating her commitment to improving the team dynamic.

After Wednesday’s game, Reese reflected on her earlier comments, stating she didn’t intend to upset her teammates. “I’m probably more annoyed with myself right now,” she admitted, suggesting her words may have been misinterpreted while she has been under pressure for a significant part of the year.

Reese, who was drafted as the seventh pick in the previous WNBA draft, has been a standout player, averaging 14.6 points and topping the league with 12.6 rebounds. She remains under contract for at least one more season.
