Viral Moment from College Football Weekend
One of the most talked-about moments from the first week of college football had little to do with the game’s action itself.
ESPN reporter Taylor Davis gained a lot of online traction on Saturday while reporting on Mississippi’s Southern Miss losing 34-17.
Footage shared on social media shows Davis, who previously attended Auburn University, appearing to rap along to lyrics from a Drake track while holding a microphone for a fan.
Meanwhile, Kujoker, the official DJ for Southern Miss, also shared videos of Davis enjoying herself, which sparked positive reactions from other reporters in the comments.
“I couldn’t help myself!” Davis exclaimed.
As a university sports reporter for ESPN since 2014, she discussed her experiences on “SEC State of Mind,” a podcast featuring Jason Campbell.
“What might surprise people is that I really enjoy rap music,” she mentioned. “I grew up in a small town in Alabama, went to Auburn, and now live in Nashville, yet I don’t listen to country; I’m all about rap and hip hop.”
She added, “I was being filmed without realizing it, and when the DJ pointed it out, saying, ‘Do you like this song?’ I thought, ‘Sure, why not?’ But yeah, it went viral, and I feel a bit embarrassed, to be honest.”
Davis’s followers flooded her Instagram with supportive messages after the incident.
“You were on fire!!” one wrote.
“You totally crushed it and are still rocking it!!” another fan commented.
Aside from college football, Davis also covers college gymnastics.
