Brett Favre States That His Support For Trump Was Based On 'Common Sense'

Brett Favre on Supporting Trump

Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre shared his thoughts on why he chose to publicly endorse President Donald Trump during an episode of the “Sage Steele Show.” This discussion took place just ahead of the election in November.

Favre expressed his support for Trump on October 30th at a rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He mentioned that his political views are grounded in “common sense,” which is a trait often linked to Trump. He remarked, “Think from a common sense perspective,” questioning why certain leftist viewpoints are seen as acceptable. “That means you don’t like looking in the mirror when no one is looking?” he added.

He pointed out that while conservatives tend to be more passive, the left is more vocal, which motivated him to speak out. “If we’re not standing up, we’ll dominate… I felt like a rally when he asked me to talk,” he continued, weighing the pros and cons. “At this point, there was a hardline drawn in the sand… If you could sway five votes, you’d want to make use of that opportunity.”

Despite feeling out of his element, Favre expressed gratitude for the invitation. “I’m not a public speaker, certainly not a political speaker. But it was an honor,” he said. He acknowledged that he doesn’t agree with everything Trump states but emphasized his belief that issues like boys competing in girls’ sports aren’t fair. “We have to protect ourselves first,” he concluded.

On a related note, Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia highlighted similar sentiments on “The Katie Miller Podcast,” stating that former President Joe Biden lost support among Democrats due to the border crisis. He noted that the net migration levels during Biden’s presidency reached historical highs, as reported by the New York Times.

Additionally, former Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe pointed out in a conversation with Chris Cuomo that Democrats seemed to have lost touch with Trump’s “common sense” appeal. “He’s a great salesman,” he observed, suggesting that Democrats had become too focused on niche issues and lost sight of broader concerns. “We’ve been caught up in all these other issues that are important to a few people.”
