Complaint Filed Against Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The American Rights Center, a conservative watchdog organization, has submitted a complaint to the FCC regarding ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, alleging that the show is engaged in “illegal politics” and violating broadcast licensing rules.
In the complaint, the group claims that Jimmy Kimmel misuses public airwaves, positing that he primarily promotes Democratic policies and politicians while failing to disclose his own contributions to the audience.
“Late-night hosts are notorious for using their platforms to support the left and criticize the right. Jimmy Kimmel from ABC may be the worst offender,” it was reported. “It’s ironic that Kimmel often disregards the FCC’s conflict of interest policy.”
The organization provided examples of Kimmel’s efforts to aid Democratic politicians, showing evidence of his financial support during federal elections.
“Kimmel gets the American people to laugh by featuring major Democratic politicians as guests,” Sue said. “The truth is that he has a financial stake in the game. He actively funds Democratic campaigns, hosts large fundraising events, and gives these candidates a platform for soft interviews.”
According to the Media Research Center (MRC), late-night television appears heavily biased. In July, they reported that 99% of guests on Kimmel’s show were Democrats.
Furthermore, records showed that 30 elected Democrats were featured, while no Republican politicians were invited. Prominent left-wing figures, such as New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth, and Texas Senator Jasmine Crockett, have all made multiple appearances.
The MRC also assessed the political leanings of unelected officials and determined that of 77 guests, only a small number were conservative.
The only conservative guest noted was economist and commentator Orenkath, who appeared on The Daily Show to discuss President Trump’s tariffs.
The analysis revealed that left-leaning commentators and liberal journalists were frequent guests, with nine from MSNBC, eight from CNN, and six additional CNN employees appearing on these late-night shows. For instance, the radical left-wing Chris Hayes from MSNBC was featured three times.
The MRC noted that the trends in guest appearances from the first half of 2025 reflect those from the latter half of 2024. Since 2022, there have been 511 liberal guests and just 14 from the right.
