The NFL is set to feature its second game of the season on Friday night in São Paulo, Brazil, where the Kansas City Chiefs, reigning AFC champions, will face their division rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers. Kansas City is favored by 3 points, with a total points line of 46.5. The Chiefs are aiming for their sixth Super Bowl appearance in seven years, while the Chargers look to build on their improvement in Jim Harbaugh’s second season as coach.
Next, let’s examine some of the top DFS picks for Friday’s slate.
Xavier Worthy, WR, Chiefs (Flex $11,600, CPT $17,400)
Worthy stands out as the most advantageous receiver outside of the quarterback for this match. Rashee Rice won’t be the primary target for the second-year player, which changes from last year. Pair him with Mahomes, whose performance could surpass anyone else in this matchup.
Omarion Hampton, RB, Chargers (Flex $6,400, CPT $9,600)
His value lies in both cost and skill, particularly since the Chiefs have a solid run defense. A key point is that Hampton and Nazzy Harris are vying for the same spot on Fan Duel, especially with Harris missing all of training camp and preseason due to an injury. Harris will play, but given that Hampton has worked closely with the first team all summer, he may take the lead. Plus, as their first-round pick, it’s likely he’ll get the chance to shine.
Keenan Allen, WR, Chargers (Flex $8,400, CPT $12,600)
Allen didn’t post eye-catching stats last year, but he maintained a target share of 27% in what was generally a lackluster offense. With Justin Herbert back, he has a strong chance to see plenty of looks. If possible, Rudd McConkey could also be a solid captain choice, but I think pivoting to Allen could help in securing cash.
Quentin Johnston, WR, Chargers (Flex $5,800, CPT $8,700)
Johnston hasn’t been sidelined with Keenan Allen, but he may see lighter ownership compared to Rudd McConkey and Allen. He could serve as a decent pivot that diversifies your lineup. Still a starter, I see him as a player worth the risk, especially against the Chiefs’ stout run defense.
Noah Gray, TE, Chiefs (Flex $3,400, CPT $5,100)
Gray had a notable season last year, stepping up as Travis Kelce faced some challenges. He recorded more than three catches in eight games and found the end zone multiple times, showing valuable consistency. He rarely left a game without a catch, contributing four receptions against the Chargers in each meeting.
Hollywood Brown, WR, Chiefs (Flex $5,200, CPT $7,800)
Brown has struggled to find a rhythm with the Chiefs, largely due to injuries, but he remains a starter and possesses the capability to create big plays. Kansas City hopes to enhance their deep passing game this season, and it will be interesting to see if Brown gets some opportunities in this matchup.
