Charlie Sheen Opens Up About Past Sexual Encounters

Charlie Sheen has recently shared details about his past experiences with men in his forthcoming memoir, “The Book of Sheen,” and a new Netflix documentary titled “aka Charlie Sheen.” The 60-year-old actor discusses a turning point in his life when he decided to explore new avenues after a long-term relationship with a woman.

“I turned the menu over,” Sheen remarked in the documentary.

In the film, he candidly reflects on how it felt to publicly acknowledge that he had previously been intimate with a man. He describes this moment as “lighting a fuse,” which ultimately turned his life upside down, surfacing memories from a turbulent past.

“Freedom. That’s f—ing freedom,” he expressed, suggesting a profound sense of liberation.

Sheen shared that his encounters began after he started using crack cocaine. In an interview with People, he admitted, “That’s what started it; it’s where it was born or there was a spark,” alluding to the complex emotions that followed as he tried to reconcile his experiences.

In the documentary, he elaborated on the fear that came with keeping his sexual encounters under wraps. “I thought, ‘I’m fine, I just pay to keep it quiet, and hope it stays there,'” he said. Yet, he also felt like a “hostage” because of this secret, stating, “I need to be freed from it.” Sheen wrestled with the implications of revealing his past, expressing concern over how he would be perceived.

Sheen had publicly disclosed he was HIV positive during a 2015 appearance on “Today.” Reflecting on those years, he shared that he initially kept this diagnosis private but eventually felt compelled to share it. He recalled a time when someone staying at his home threatened to expose his status unless he paid him, which contributed to his ultimate choice to go public.

Assuring his fans and the public, Sheen stated he never transmitted HIV to any of his past partners, emphasizing, “I know the fact that I’ve never told it.” He aims to be transparent about his life experiences through his memoir and documentary.

Since 2017, Sheen has focused on compensating those impacted by his past behaviors and clarified he doesn’t want to project himself as a victim. “It takes two for the tango,” he mentioned, representing a sense of accountability.

In his own words, he remarked, “I’m not going to run away from the past or let it own me.” His memoir is set to be released on September 9, while “aka Charlie Sheen” will begin streaming on Netflix a day later.
