In a recent report, analyst Louis DiPalma from William Blair maintained a cautious outlook on the stock, reflecting the company’s notable commercial success alongside concerns over future competition.

Growing Commercial and Defense Sectors

DiPalma noted the introduction of new customers at Palantir’s AIPCON 8 event on September 4th, 2025, which featured presentations from more than 70 clients demonstrating the Palantir platform. He indicated that PLTR’s performance has been robust since the previous AIPCON event in March, suggesting sustained momentum in the U.S. commercial sector.

Experts are highlighting that Palantir is witnessing exceptional growth in its U.S. commercial endeavors, with revenue projected to rise by 103% in the September quarter. This robust growth, paired with improved profit margins, might signify one of the company’s strongest quarters to date.

Regarding defense, DiPalma emphasized that Palantir has secured multiple contracts during the September quarter.

Concerns Over Future Competition

While the immediate growth prospects seem solid, DiPalma pointed out that there are concerns from some investors regarding the long-term outlook. He mentioned competitors like OpenAI and various other AI startups that are accumulating significant funding and attracting top talent. These companies are also shifting focus toward both commercial and defense markets, potentially mimicking Palantir’s engineering approach.

Price Target for Palantir Stock

In summary, Wall Street has assigned Palantir Technologies an overall consensus rating based on five buy ratings, 13 holds, and two sell ratings. The average price target for PLTR stock is set at $155.39, indicating a slight downside of about 0.48% from the current levels.
