Teair Tart Takes on Travis Kelce
Teair Tart seems ready to tackle whatever comes his way, even backlash from Taylor Swift’s fiancé, Travis Kelce. In a surprising moment during a game, the Chargers defensive lineman slammed into the Chiefs tight end, amidst a thrilling match where the Chargers pulled off a win, 27-21, in Brazil.
Interestingly, Tart wasn’t penalized for his move. He later shared a clip on his Instagram story from the iconic “Chappelle Show,” featuring Rick James and Charlie Murphy, emphasizing the humor in the situation with two laughing emojis.
This incident unfolded in the third quarter while the Chargers were ahead, 13-12. Kelce, 35, clashed with Tart while trying to block him. It appeared that perhaps Tart was a bit slower in reacting, leading to Kelce pushing him at the play’s conclusion. In response, Tart retaliated with a striking motion using an open hand.
Kelce, momentarily taken aback, attempted to draw a penalty by showing his arm to the referee, who quickly threw the flag.
As a result, the Chiefs moved closer to scoring, reaching the Chargers’ 11-yard line, with Patrick Mahomes subsequently rushing in for a touchdown, narrowing the score to 13-12.
Interestingly, while Tart struck his opponent, he was not removed from the game. According to NFL rules analyst Walt Anderson, the contact was deemed to be an open hand to the head, which did not warrant disqualification.
Terry Macaulay elaborated on the broadcast, clarifying that since it was an open-hand contact—not a closed fist or punch—there was no justification for ejecting Tart from the match.
After the game, celebrating the unexpected victory, Tart’s Instagram continued the humorous theme from the earlier clip, invoking the fictional Rick James’ memorable lines.
Kelce concluded the game with two receptions, one of which was a touchdown for 47 yards. This play included a pivotal 37-yard catch that helped narrow the Chargers’ lead in the fourth quarter, though Swift didn’t attend the game.
Kelce also faced a concerning moment in the first quarter when he collided with receiver Xavier Worthy, resulting in an injury that took Worthy out of the match.
