Vance and Krassenstein Clash Over Military Action
On Saturday, JD Vance found himself at odds with anti-Trump social media figure Brian Krassenstein after commenting on a post from the vice president on X. The spat began when Vance asserted, “Killing the members of the cartel that poison our fellow citizens is the best and best use of our army.”
This followed a U.S. military operation targeting a Venezuelan vessel carrying drugs in the southern Caribbean. Authorities reported that 11 members of the Tren de Aragua cartel were eliminated in the strike.
In response to Vance’s tweet, Krassenstein remarked, “Killing a citizen of another country who is a civilian without justification is called a war crime.” To this, Vance bluntly replied, “I will not give you anything you call it.”
Later, Krassenstein insisted that Vance “should be fired for this tweet.”
U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth addressed the situation on Fox & Friends, stating, “It’s a new day. It’s another day, and… this is an activity the U.S. will not tolerate in our hemisphere.” Hegseth emphasized that the strike targeted an organization responsible for flooding the U.S. with illegal drugs.
President Donald Trump showcased footage of the strike on social media, suggesting it should send a stern warning to anyone contemplating drug trafficking into the U.S. He reassured that no American troops were harmed during the operation.
Trump confirmed that the explosion occurred under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Southern Command, although the suspected terrorists were in international waters while transporting drugs.
Hegseth warned that this action wouldn’t be an isolated incident. “Everyone else who knows to be designated narcoterrorists faces the same fate, and it’s important for Americans to protect their homelands and the hemisphere,” he said.
