Controversial Encounter at Disneyland Paris
A recent incident involving Rafinha, the star player for FC Barcelona, has sparked outrage. The Brazilian winger took to social media, expressing his anger after a performer, dressed in a European Disneyland costume, appeared to disregard his young son at Disneyland Paris.
While visiting the park with his family, Rafinha’s son excitedly approached an employee in a chipmunk costume. What should have been a joyful moment turned sour, prompting the footballer to call out the situation. He urged fellow athletes on social media to take a stand against this behavior.
Rafinha’s Instagram video denounced Disneyland Paris, where he insisted that children deserve happiness, not exclusion. He stated, “It’s disrespectful. You’re supposed to make children happy, not ignore them.” He candidly shared his frustration, noting that while he understood the pressures on workers, he couldn’t help but question why his son was overlooked in favor of other children.
“It’s painful to see. My son just wanted a simple hello and hug,” he lamented. In his post, he tagged Disneyland Paris, pouring out his feelings of anger and frustration.
The video he shared showed a chipmunk character warmly greeting others in the crowd, yet Rafinha’s son was left feeling disappointed. It’s a tough pill to swallow when all you want is for your child to experience joy.
Rafinha, at 28, continues to represent his country as well as his club, Barcelona. His mixed heritage—Italian from his father and Brazilian from his mother—adds layers to his identity as an athlete.
As of now, Disneyland has not responded to inquiries regarding the incident.
Interestingly, despite the uproar, this year hasn’t been without its share of challenges for Disneyland. Just earlier this year, a tragic event occurred when a 53-year-old man fell into a coma following a ride at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
