Christian McCaffrey’s injury: Implications for Week 1 against the Seahawks

Christian McCaffrey's injury: Implications for Week 1 against the Seahawks

Game Day Update

The team hasn’t called up any running backs from the practice squad, which likely means Christian McCaffrey will play against the Seahawks on Sunday. Jordan James, however, is marked as suspicious for the game. So, if you’re in a fantasy league, you should probably plan on starting McCaffrey.

Injury Status for McCaffrey

Christian McCaffrey is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game in Seattle due to a calf injury, and he didn’t practice on Friday. He was limited in practice on Thursday, which suggests he might just be working through some things.

McCaffrey’s Outlook

Interestingly, McCaffrey doesn’t seem overly worried about his injury, mentioning that past issues have been blown out of proportion. Still, there’s a reasonable amount of concern, especially since similar situations have happened before, affecting both fans and fantasy players alike. He missed most of last season despite sounding optimistic about his health.

But, based on what we know right now, it looks like there’s a chance he’ll play, even if he’s got that questionable tag hanging over him.

McCaffrey’s Injury Update

As of now, McCaffrey is noted as questionable for the Seahawks matchup due to his calf issue that kept him from practicing on Friday.

Fantasy Football Insights

If McCaffrey is on the field, you’re probably starting him. However, we can’t say for sure if he’ll actually play.

One alternative you might consider is McCaffrey’s backup, Brian Robinson, who is currently rostered by about 68% of teams on Yahoo. Even if McCaffrey suits up, Robinson is definitely worth a spot on your roster. Another option could be Nick Chubb, who has a 67% roster rate on Yahoo and will lead the Texans against the Rams in their afternoon game. These two backs seem to be among the few who could provide solid points later in the games, but hopefully, you’ve got other reliable players on your roster as well.

If McCaffrey ends up missing some time, Isaac Guerendo might get picked up, but he’s not as high of a priority compared to Robinson, who is stepping in as RB2. If you’ve got space, consider grabbing Guerendo, but it might just be a low-risk stash move.
