Lady Gaga’s Stellar Night at the VMAs Amidst Tour Chaos
Lady Gaga, currently in the thick of her “Mayhem” tour, is set to perform tonight at Madison Square Garden. However, she took a moment to shine at the MTV VMAs 2025.
At 39, the singer accepted the coveted Artist of the Year award dressed in a striking Marc Jacobs gown featuring dramatic black and purple colors, embellished with ruffles and lace.
In an emotional moment during her acceptance speech, she expressed, “I wish I could stay and see all these great performances, but I have to go back to Madison Square Garden.”
Her ensemble was accentuated by a gothic-inspired makeup look, complete with bleached brows, bold red lips, and copper eyeshadow, all complemented by her black mini bangs and floral headpiece in mauve and burgundy tones.
Gaga led the nominations for the night, racking up 12, closely followed by her collaborator Bruno Mars, who had 11. Among her nominations are Song of the Year and Best Collaboration for her track “Die with a Smile.”
Notably, her hit “Abracadabra” also gained recognition, taking home nominations for Video of the Year, Best Pop Video, Best Album, and Best Direction. It’s remarkable how quickly the song reached 2 billion streams on Spotify.
While Gaga performs in New York, the UBS Arena on Long Island hosts other notable performances from artists like Sabrina Carpenter, Ricky Martin, and Mariah Carey.
Gaga’s “Mayhem” world tour kicked off in Las Vegas last July. It features many memorable outfits and nods to her extensive career, particularly following her headlining performance at Coachella 2025.
This appearance marks Gaga’s first at an awards show since the virtual red carpet event in the 2020s. Back then, she was promoting her “Chromatica” album, sporting a Covid-19-themed mask and baby blue hair.
Over the years, Gaga has made a splash at the VMAs, from her unforgettable performance of “Paparazzi” in 2009 to her iconic “meat dress” at the 2010 event. Her daring fashion choices, like her alter ego Joe Calderon in 2011, continue to leave a lasting impression.
