Lee Strobel Cautions about the Devil’s Impact on Today's Media

Lee Strobel Warns About the Influence of Hollywood

Author and pastor Lee Strobel expresses concern that the devil is corrupting society through Hollywood and mass media by making evil seem normal. Strobel, a former research journalist and the writer of the bestselling book In Christ’s Case, reflects on the impact that mainstream media has on people’s perceptions of crime and morality.

“If Satan is clever, would he travel the world to influence each individual?” Strobel poses. He suggests that a more effective method might be to target Hollywood, where the reach is far greater, potentially affecting many influential people in the entertainment industry.

“What if he encourages them to produce movies and shows? They are entertaining, sure, but often convey messages that normalize immoral behavior,” Strobel points out.

He warns that humorous content can lower viewers’ defenses, making them more susceptible to negative influences. For instance, he cites the show “Friends,” where characters frequently engage in casual relationships, illustrating how entertainment can promote questionable behaviors.

Strobel notes that these tactics extend beyond sexual immorality; they’re part of a broader agenda. “I think Satan is exceedingly effective at pushing products that align with his influence on filmmakers, subtly opening the door to the occult and immoral activities without us even realizing it,” he adds.

In an interview with Tucker Carlson, Strobel discusses his latest book, See the Supernatural: Investigating the Mysteries of Angels, Demons, Mystical Dreams, Near-Death Encounters, and Other Invisible Realms.

“If there’s a demon present, we need to be aware of it,” says Strobel. “The two biggest mistakes we can make about the devil’s realm are to either dismiss it entirely or to see demons everywhere, thinking they’re stronger than us.”

“Both perspectives have issues, but I believe the more significant problem is our culture’s denial of the existence of a demonic realm,” he adds.
