Debate on Crime and Family Dynamics

On Monday, a spirited debate unfolded on Chris Cuomo’s News Nation Show, featuring Liz Wheeler from BlazeTV and former Ohio Senator Nina Turner (D).

Wheeler accused Turner of being “shocked” during the live discussion.

“I intended to express that Iryna Zarutska’s murder wasn’t just a random event. It was something that was bound to happen, a consequence of Democratic policy,” Wheeler stated, referring to a tragic incident involving Iryna Zarutska, a 23-year-old Ukrainian woman stabbed while traveling by train in North Carolina. The alleged assailant, DeCarlos Brown, is 34 years old.

When Wheeler introduced the topic of “the broken black family,” Turner quickly interjected, “Oh, no! You’re not going to sit there and talk about the broken black family. How dare you?”

Turner emphasized, “Don’t elect black families. Your nerve.”

Later, Wheeler aimed to clarify her points in an upcoming episode of The Liz Wheeler Show on BlazeTV.

She reiterated, “I would argue that the murder of Iryna Zarutska was not arbitrary; it was inevitable, stemming from Democratic policies and a criminal justice system that perpetuates these outcomes.” She added that while young black men often get labeled for crime, the same holds true for young white men, attributing it to broken families, particularly in the black community.

Additionally, Wheeler pointed out statistics about children growing up without fathers, claiming they are six times more likely to experience poverty and engage in criminal activities.

She referenced stark demographic shifts: “In 1960, about 75% of black children lived with two parents. Fast forward to 2020, and that number drops to around 37-42%.” Wheeler noted, “It’s quite troubling that by 2015, 77.3% of black babies were born to unmarried parents.” A staggering 50% of black children today live without a father in the home.

Wheeler pondered on social media whether Turner’s reactions were similar to former President Barack Obama’s comments about the importance of a father’s role in preventing crime.
