Emma Heming Willis Is Getting Ready for Bruce Willis' Passing

Emma Heming Willis on Bruce Willis’ Health

Emma Heming Willis, Bruce Willis’ wife, revealed that he has relocated to a different home to help prepare their children for his impending death as he battles dementia.

In her upcoming book, *The Expern Journey*, set to be released on September 9th, she shares her insights on managing the challenges faced by well-known figures with frontotemporal dementia, particularly regarding its toll on young children. According to her, distancing the girls from Bruce could ultimately ease their transition when the time comes.

Emma expressed, “I know how dark and harsh it is.” Since the family’s confirmation of his diagnosis in February 2023, she has taken on the role of primary caregiver but feels overwhelmed by the demands of care, acknowledging that she needs more support.

Emma explained that the decision to live separately came after discussions with experts, realizing it was necessary for the family’s adjustment to the changes in Bruce’s condition. She shared that there is no defined timeline for his illness but mentioned that individuals with frontotemporal dementia typically have a life expectancy of about 7 to 13 years post-symptom onset.

While describing the disease’s terrifying nature, she noted that it forces some planning and organization. It’s a heavy burden, but perhaps trying to arrange things might help mitigate the anxiety for the family. Emma thinks that familiarizing Mabel and Evelyn with their new normal could ease their future emotional shock.

Finally, she emphatically stated, “The illness always wins until treatment occurs.”
