Texas Representative Addresses Transgender Course Content Issues
A Texas representative has reportedly been removed from a class after a student at Texas A&M raised questions about transgender-related materials in the curriculum.
Brian Harrison, a Texas Rep, expressed his surprise upon being elected, stating, “After serving under President Trump, I was shocked to discover that the Texas government might be one of the largest backers of DEI and LGBTQ initiatives in the U.S.” He voiced concerns about taxpayers’ money being used against values that many Texans hold dear.
He emphasized, “Texas should be leading the charge against left-leaning indoctrination rather than supporting it. The president of Texas A&M should be removed, and all DEI and LGBTQ-related funding must be rescinded.”
In a post on X, he shared the news of students being expelled from their class after raising objections to the instruction on transgender topics. “Caught on Tape: Texas A&M students were kicked out of their class after opposing the indoctrination of transgender…and the A&M president defends ‘LGBTQ research,'” he noted.
Harrison questioned the legality of teaching gender ideology, referencing an executive order from former President Donald Trump, alongside a video from a female student that captured the moment she was cut from class.
Fox News Digital sought a response from Texas A&M University, which was addressed in a statement by the university’s president, Mark A. Welsh III, who acknowledged the surrounding controversy in an update on Texas A&M’s X account.
Welsh mentioned, “This afternoon, we learned that major leaders within the College of Arts and Sciences approved a plan to teach course material that diverges from the official course description.” Following this, he instructed the Provost to dismiss the dean and department head.
Harrison pointed out the implications of these actions, underscoring how students depend on accurate course information to make significant educational choices. Discrepancies between what’s taught and what’s advertised can lead to disappointment.
Further, Harrison wrote to Governor Greg Abbott, stating that a whistleblower from Texas A&M provided video evidence that he was removed from a children’s literature class due to his objections. In the correspondence, Harrison mentioned being compelled to learn about “gender unicorns,” materials he claims endorse radical transgender ideology.
He asserted that the professor fostered an environment that could lead to “grooming children” and utilized learning materials that suggested early childhood was the right time for gender exploration.
Harrison shared that he has proposed 14 pieces of legislation aimed at cutting taxpayer funding for DEI and LGBTQ initiatives. He is urging Abbott to convene a special session to advance this agenda.
