Ryan Seacrest, the 50-year-old host of “Wheel of Fortune,” admitted he wasn’t aware that Vanna White, his longtime co-host, was sometimes absent from the show.

He mentioned how fans are always familiar with the distinctive click sound when the contestants spin the wheel. It’s interesting how that noise happens—apparently, there’s a rubber band involved, which, I suppose, is a bit like having braces.

“Do you know the click sound? It’s like when you had orthodontics on your teeth, there’s a rubber band that makes that click,” Seacrest explained during an interview on “Good Morning America” on September 5.

After Seacrest made that comment, reporter Trevor Ault noticed a colorful wheel with 24 pricing wedges and confirmed the band Seacrest referred to.

“You can see it here,” Ault said.

As White enters her 43rd season as co-host, she turned to Seacrest, expressing her surprise about these in-game secrets.

“Do you know I didn’t know that?” White responded.

“Well, welcome to Season 43,” Seacrest said jokingly.

Seacrest, who took the reins of “Wheel of Fortune” in 2024 after Pat Sajak’s retirement, is kicking off his second season hosting the Emmy Awards this week.

During their promotion of the new season, which premiered recently, White, 58, shared her enthusiasm about working on the show. “I love coming to work every day. It’s always fun, and you don’t know what’s going to happen,” she said.

Having clocked in over 8,100 episodes, White usually doesn’t stand next to the contestants while they spin the wheel. Interestingly, she had to step in to host for the first time in November 2019 when Sajak underwent emergency surgery.

White remembered, “For timing and comfort, we only had one rehearsal before filming our first show.” Looking back, she noted that she made “some small mistakes” unrelated to the actual game, mainly because she had trouble seeing the scoreboard from her position. She quipped, “Can I increase the font so I can see?”

Finally, White has extended her contract with “Wheel of Fortune” until 2026 and received a significant pay increase, as reported recently.
