Garry Chapman, son of Dog the Bounty Hunter and a police officer, put on leave following pursuit that resulted in the death of Alabama teenager Tristan Hollis.

The son of a police officer featured on “Dog The Bounty Hunter” has been put on administrative leave after a tragic high-speed chase led to the death of a teenage boy in Alabama on Saturday night.

Garry Chapman, 24 years old and the son of Duane and Alice Chapman, was involved in tracking a suspected drunk driver in Hartselle, Alabama. Reportedly, he was sidelined from his duties pending further investigation.

Chapman has appeared with his parents in various “Dog The Bounty Hunter” shows that gained popularity over the years.

He began chasing the vehicle after it was observed making erratic movements, leading police to suspect DUI. The pursuit reportedly involved a driver named Archie Hale, who collided with a minivan at the intersection of Highway 31 and Highway 36 around 8:30 PM. This minivan carried 17-year-old Tristan Hollis and three other teen boys.

As a result of the crash, both Hale and his passengers sustained injuries. Sadly, Hollis was taken to a hospital but was later pronounced dead.

Priceville Police Chief Jerry Holmes mentioned that Chapman was placed on leave as part of standard procedure in these cases.

It’s important to note that Chapman wasn’t the officer who initially tried to pull Hale over.

The investigation into the events surrounding the crash continues, with Chief Alan McDalmond stating that it’s a complicated matter, which may take some time to resolve.

Hale suffered significant injuries and is reportedly still hospitalized. As of now, he has not faced any charges related to the incident.

Chief Holmes expressed condolences, saying they extend their heartfelt thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by this incident.

A vigil at Hartselle High School remembered Hollis, who had just received his first car and celebrated his 17th birthday. He was described as a polite young man who had a fondness for sweets.

Another teenager injured in the collision was identified as 14-year-old Braxton Welsh, who was hospitalized along with his siblings. They are currently in the pediatric intensive care unit.

Garry Chapman has been part of 33 episodes across different series of his father’s show over the last 16 years, sharing many moments with him publicly, including snaps in uniform.
