Images of Idaho Student Killer Brian Coberger Released

New images have surfaced showing Brian Coberger, the convict in the Idaho student murders, posing around his apartment at Washington State University. In one selfie, he’s shirtless and sporting wireless headphones, appearing to salute the camera while also showcasing an injury to his knuckle. In another shot, he makes a strange face, showing off his discolored teeth with a smirk.

These details emerged from hundreds of photographs released by Idaho State Police. Coberger, 30, was apprehended on December 30, 2022, at his parents’ home in Pennsylvania. Law enforcement has been analyzing data from his phone to gather evidence for the case against him.

Interestingly, while at his apartment, he seemed to take various selfies without sharing them widely. Digital forensic analysts Jared and Heather Barnhart noted that Coberger’s behavior appeared rather self-centered, suggesting a mix of narcissism and oddity in his self-portrait captures. He often took photos at peculiar angles, highlighting himself—and it’s said he would just resume his activities afterward, as if the photos were trivial.

More unsettling is the fact that he faced charges for the murders of four University of Idaho students: Xana Kernodle, Kaylee Goncalves, and Madison Mogen. Recently, he pleaded guilty to four counts of first-degree murder and is now serving a life sentence with no possibility of appeal, alongside an additional ten years for a felony robbery charge.

These images tell a story that feels almost surreal, contradicting the gravity of the crimes he committed. The contrast between his casual selfies and the horrific nature of his actions leaves one to wonder how such dissonance exists in a person.
