Chiefs' Travis Kelce shares he felt terrible after injuring a teammate

Travis Kelce sustained an injury last week after colliding with Xavier during his third play in a 27-21 defeat against the Los Angeles Chargers. Following the incident, Kelce, who is 35, expressed feeling “terrible,” admitting that he could have dislocated his shoulder on that play.

“I really regret that moment for my team,” Kelce said, referencing the impact of the injury. “X knows how much I appreciate him.” He was participating in a podcast called “New Heights,” reflecting on the play.

Kelce acknowledged that the team wasn’t fully prepared, noting he took significant “accountability” for what happened during that play. “Honestly, I was off my game during that first drive. I ended up taking out one of my own teammates, and that’s frustrating,” he added, struggling to recover his focus afterward.

The ten-time Pro Bowler mentioned he was aiming to execute his route effectively, hoping to make a significant play. “I’m supposed to be running routes at precise depths, but it’s frustrating when you can’t do that,” he said, emphasizing the importance of clear communication among players.

Kelce highlighted a lack of execution in their game plan against the Chargers, stressing that the loss really affected their strategy. “That’s a big adjustment we had to make,” he explained, lamenting that crucial pieces of their plan were put on hold due to injuries.

Despite the setback, he feels other players, like Hollywood Brown and Juju Smith-Schuster, can step up in the absence of key players like Worthy. There’s still a bit of uncertainty about what this means for their upcoming rematch against the Philadelphia Eagles, which is highly anticipated.
