Texas A&M University Calls for Audit After Student Controversy

The Texas A&M University System’s Committee released a statement on Wednesday, urging an audit of all courses following incidents where students were taken out of classes for questioning content related to transgender issues. The university system reiterated that it will not accept actions that harm its reputation, emphasizing the need for immediate measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future. As part of this response, they have requested the Prime Minister to conduct a thorough audit to ensure compliance with relevant laws.

On Monday, Republican Senator Brian Harrison from Texas shared a video in which he questioned the legality of teaching gender ideology, referencing an executive order from former President Donald Trump. The video included a female student’s remarks about being halted during a lesson.

Controversy Over Class Content

The student expressed concern, stating, “I’m just asking because I’m not entirely sure this is legal to teach. According to our president, there are only two genders, so he said it’s a freezing institution fundraising program that promotes gender ideology.” She indicated that her participation was against her religious beliefs and could be in conflict with legal standards.

Later in the video, she told her instructor, “You’re misleading that what I’m saying is illegal, and it’s time for you to leave.”

In a letter to Governor Greg Abbott, Harrison mentioned a whistleblower—another student from Texas A&M—who provided footage supporting claims of being removed from a children’s literature class due to opposition against what he termed “permanent transgender indoctrination.” He also made claims regarding being taught concepts like “gender unicorns” that he argued promote radical views.

Institutional Response

Previously, Fox News Digital contacted Texas A&M University for a comment. Mark A. Wales III, a university representative, noted in a statement addressing the situation that university officials had approved a plan to continue course content not aligned with its stated descriptions. Consequently, he instructed the provost to make changes in leadership within the college.

“Our students rely on the course catalog to make important decisions about their educational journey. If the actual course content strays from what’s advertised, it could lead to disappointment,” Wales emphasized.

On Tuesday, Glenn Hegar, Prime Minister of the Texas A&M University System, also issued a statement applauding the leadership’s actions in addressing the situation. He underscored that noncompliance and indoctrination have no place in educational settings.
