Cracker Barrel Announces Changes Following Customer Feedback

Cracker Barrel is rolling out some notable changes in response to positive customer feedback, which includes bringing back their beloved homemade biscuits and revising some of their social policies.

The chain will announce on Wednesday that its homemade biscuits, described as “hand rolled and baked all day,” are making a comeback. “The Cracker Barrel was built on a biscuit,” the company mentioned on social media, acknowledging that they took customer concerns about the biscuits seriously. They added, “We’re focused on providing you with the best food possible. Expect an even better biscuit experience, freshly baked and rolled by hand all day long. Share your basket today.”

In addition to the biscuit revival, Cracker Barrel is also shifting its approach to diversity and inclusion. They’ve stated that they will not maintain quotas or specific roles for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) teams. Instead, they are emphasizing that employment and compensation will be based purely on skills and performance, without discrimination based on race or other protected categories.

The restaurant chain has also decided to discontinue sponsorship of events seen as unrelated to their core business needs, such as pride events. They highlighted that employee benefits have never included coverage for sex reassignment or related care.

This update follows a decision to halt remodeling plans after receiving further pushback from their customer base. A spokesman noted, “We’ve heard our guests, and we’re still listening. Our focus remains on kitchen quality and generous portions to provide that warm, country hospitality we’re known for.”

Interestingly, only four out of 660 locations have undergone any remodeling. The changes previously involved shifting away from traditional Americana decor towards a more modern aesthetic, a move that prior customers did not widely embrace. Cracker Barrel reassured that they are dedicated to enhancing restaurant quality while sticking to their roots.

The company faced considerable backlash when they attempted to alter their iconic logo. The new design, which removed the classic “old timer” image for a more streamlined look, disappointed many fans, prompting a quick reversal of this branding change.

Ultimately, customers can still expect to find the vintage Americana charm they love. From rocking chairs to unique gift shop items, Cracker Barrel aims to provide a warm, welcoming atmosphere for families and friends to enjoy their meals together.
