Turning Point USA has released a statement confirming the tragic death of its founder, Charlie Kirk, and is urging followers to include their families in prayers.
The conservative group, which Kirk established in 2012 alongside his late mentor Bill Montgomery, shared the news on social media, saying:
“It is with great sorrow that we confirm Charles James Kirk was fatally shot during Turning Point USA’s ‘America Comeback Tour’ event at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. May he rest in the merciful embrace of our beloved Savior. Please keep his family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. We kindly request that you respect their privacy during this time,” the TPUSA statement read.
Former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to honor Kirk, conveying his condolences.
“Charlie Kirk was a truly great and legendary figure. No one understood the youth of America better than he did—or perhaps no one understood them at all like he did,” Trump remarked. “He will be missed, especially by me. Melania and I extend our heartfelt sympathies to his wife Erica and his family. Charlie, we love you!”
Former President Barack Obama also shared thoughts about Kirk’s passing.
“While we may not know what prompted the shooter to take such violent action, this kind of behavior has no place in our democracy. Michelle and I are praying tonight for Charlie’s family, including his wife Erica and their two young children,” Obama stated.
Kirk was shot in the neck while addressing a crowd of students at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. FBI Director Kash Patel announced that a suspect had been taken into custody but later released after questioning.
Kirk was transported to a nearby hospital, where sources indicated he received a blood transfusion before eventually succumbing to his injuries.
