Ex-FBI Agent Suggests Charlie Kirk's Assassination Could Have Been 'A Targeted Attack'

Possible Professional Hit on Charlie Kirk

Former FBI agent Stuart Kaplan suggested on “Jesse Watters Primetime” that the shooting of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk might have been a “professional hit.” Kirk, who was 31, was speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, when he was shot alongside a student. During the investigation, the FBI began questioning suspects. Watters asked Kaplan about his thoughts on the incident.

“As you know, Jesse, I see this as an assassination, not just an attempted one,” Kaplan said, referencing a recent similarly orchestrated plot. “The individual had a detailed escape plan after the shot was fired to evade law enforcement.” Kaplan pointed to a prior incident in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a suspect acted suspiciously before and after leaving a venue.

Kirk frequently visited college campuses to engage students with his political views. Thousands in Utah were eager to meet him. Approximately twenty minutes after Kirk had a debate with students, the gunfire rang out, leading to his death.

A university representative informed the Daily Caller that the shots originated from a building around 200 yards away. Following the attack, FBI Director Kash Patel mentioned on X that a person had been apprehended and questioned but was later released.

Watters pressed Kaplan to clarify what he meant by “professional hit,” questioning if someone with basic training could execute such an attack effectively.

“Watching the video, the proximity to the audience and Charlie Kirk is striking. There was a tent overhead. The shots seemed aimed specifically at him,” Kaplan remarked. “This appears to involve someone with expertise who positioned themselves on that rooftop before the audience arrived. They weren’t detected at all.” Kaplan emphasized that the shooter must have worked diligently to evade capture.

In a recent post, Patel updated the public that the individual in custody was released after questioning. He assured that the FBI investigation is ongoing and that they would share relevant information as part of their commitment to transparency.

Kirk leaves behind his wife, Erika, and their two young children.
