Security Concerns Raised After Charlie Kirk’s Assassination

In the wake of the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, several eyewitnesses reported to Blaze News that security measures at the event were lacking.

Kirk was shot in the neck at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, prompting immediate transport to a nearby hospital. Initial sources indicated a critical situation, but it was later confirmed that he had passed away.

FBI Director Kash Patel stated on Wednesday night that the identity of the detained “subject” had been released following law enforcement interviews.

At just 31 years old, Kirk left behind his wife Erica and their two young children.

“All the students, including me, fell to the ground,” one witness, Seth, shared.

Tyler and Sestiedale, both alumni of UVU, attended the event and recounted the chaos that ensued. Tyler drove into the parking lot just as a black SUV sped away. He later said, “I didn’t realize it at the time, but the SUV shot out at 70 mph down a 20 mph road.”

The back door of the SUV was wide open, revealing Kirk inside. Tyler described feeling confused amid the chaos as SWAT teams arrived and people began screaming.

“There wasn’t enough security,” Tyler commented, noting that only four bodyguards—Kirk’s team—were present.

After the shooting, Tyler assisted law enforcement for over an hour to locate witnesses. An elderly man, initially thought to be a suspect, was later verified by UVU spokespersons to have no connection to the shooting.

Seth, who was also present, recalled hearing a noise that some initially mistook for a firecracker. “People started yelling, ‘Hit the ground!'” he said, describing how students quickly dropped to the ground.

He observed people panicking and some even jumping into nearby fountains in a desperate bid to escape. “I thought about jumping in as well,” Seth admitted.

As the situation unfolded, Seth expressed concern over the lack of police presence on rooftops surrounding the venue. “About 10 minutes before it happened, I realized there was no one up there,” he mentioned.

In the aftermath, attendees were left shaken, with many crying and panicked. Seth remarked on Kirk’s character, stating, “Charlie was a great guy.”
