Following the start of the NFL’s 2025 season, conservative activist Charlie Kirk expressed his enthusiasm about the Chicago Bears possibly relocating from the city to the suburbs of Arlington Heights.
Kirk, a longtime Bears fan and resident of Arlington Heights, humorously remarked during his recent show on how the team often seems “embarrassing on national television,” yet he supports the idea of the franchise leaving Chicago.
“I think moving to Arlington Heights Stadium is a great idea,” Kirk stated. “People aren’t happy about it; my family says, ‘No, that wouldn’t be good.’ But I believe it’s a positive change.”
“I think this could help us establish a new identity, moving away from Chicago. It’s a relevant point related to Mayor Johnson’s political challenges,” Kirk commented, criticizing Chicago’s Democratic mayor, Brandon Johnson.
“Mayor Johnson is doing a very poor job,” he further asserted. “He managed to push the Bears out of Chicago. That’s a significant failure for a Chicago mayor. He kicked the team out of the city and into the dome.”
However, he admitted feeling a bit nostalgic about the Bears potentially playing in a dome stadium.
“There’s something special about Soldier Field when it’s minus 10 degrees,” he noted. “It’s symbolic, and honestly, it’s quite beautiful.”
While addressing the ongoing criticism over the Bears not having won a Super Bowl in years, Kirk couldn’t help but point out the lack of Super Bowl wins for the Archbishop Vikings.
Kirk was tragically killed in Utah while attempting to engage in dialogue with those who opposed his views. He was shot and killed at the age of 31, leaving behind his wife and two young children.
