Callous Individuals Are Being Dismissed Frequently for Criticizing Charlie Kirk After His Passing

Divided Reactions to Charlie Kirk’s Assassination

Following the assassination of Charlie Kirk on Wednesday, social media was sharply split between those offering prayers and those expressing harsh criticism.

A business owner remarked to the Daily Caller that despite the individual involved remaining employed at the time comments were made, they had received numerous calls about former employees’ remarks regarding Kirk. Matthew Hart, who heads Leadership Institute and conservativeJobs.com, was among the conservatives pushing back against the backlash. A related incident involved a university dean being fired for expressing no sympathy for Kirk.

The controversy surged when Kirk shared that he “makes his fate exist.” This led to the immediate termination of a student assistant dean at Middle Tennessee State University. By night’s end, Hart vowed to investigate further, sharing that he had received direct messages from several individuals, along with screenshots of others on the left seemingly celebrating Kirk’s assassination. Among those comments, Lydia Fettig, a professor at the University of Michigan, allegedly referred to Kirk’s murder as “wise” and “rational.”

The exchanges continued with posts from others like Alana B. Hartman Hall, the dean of Chesterfield County students, and Andrew Helman, a vice-chairman at Oklahoma State University. Both seemed to suggest that Kirk “reaped what he sowed.” A spokesperson for the University of Michigan stated that while faculty members can discuss various topics, such expressions do not reflect the institution’s views.

Meanwhile, Chesterfield County Public Schools and Oklahoma State University did not respond to inquiries about their stances.

Kristen Eve, a pre-kindergarten teacher with the Department of Defense, was reportedly quoted saying she “feels” for Kirk’s family and that merely boycotting or voting “is not enough.”

She expressed strong emotions against the prevailing negativity, stating, “I’m tired of the other side destroying the world and bowing to corporate interests.” Kirk had previously claimed that the costs of gun violence were acceptable in light of the Second Amendment.

Hart also called attention to Connor Grosshanten, who expressed that “our world is a better place without people like Charlie Kirk.” An employer representative later expressed the company’s condemnation of any violence, regardless of political affiliations.

The fallout from the incident extended even to the entertainment industry. For instance, the Carolina Panthers fired their communication coordinator after a social media post that some viewed as insensitive. The team’s response emphasized that employee opinions do not represent the organization as a whole.

Additionally, DC Comics hastily canceled a newly released spinoff after a transgender writer made remarks about Kirk’s death, indicating a swift corporate backlash against comments seen as supporting hostility or violence.

In gaming, the controversy even sparked a boycott against Drew Harrison, a senior developer at Sony’s Sucker Punch Productions, after he shared an inappropriate comment related to Kirk. This drew significant attention, with some fans saying they would cancel pre-orders of the upcoming game, “Ghost of Yotei.”

As the situation continues to unfold, it remains unclear how these reactions will affect reputations and careers across various sectors.
