House Republican Group Seeks Investigation into Cause of Left-Wing Violence

A group of Republican lawmakers is pushing for a select committee to explore “the financial backing, influence, and power behind the radical leftist attacks on America and the rule of law,” following the assassination of conservative advocate Charlie Kirk.

A coalition of 23 lawmakers, led by Chip Roy (R-TX), sent a request on Thursday to Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), James Kommer (R-KY), who chairs the House of Representatives Surveillance and Government Reform Committee, and Jim Jordan (R-OH), the chairman of the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee.

The letter emphasized the need for investigation, stating:

Given the numerous attacks on our way of life, the erosion of the rule of law, and the murder of notable and innocent Americans, we must pursue the funding and uncover the forces behind NGOs, donors, media, civil servants, and all entities driving this coordinated assault.

Lawmakers specifically called attention to the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which critics often label as a “hate” organization for targeting individuals and groups that don’t align with liberal views.

The legislators wrote: “We’ve seen targets placed on the Family Research Council and Charlie Kirk, leading to shootings against both, including this week’s tragic assassination, following their placement on SPLC’s notorious ‘hatred map’ three months ago.”

An SPLC representative pointed out that their organizational data is utilized in courts, classrooms, and legislatures to uphold civil rights and hold extremists accountable. “We need to engage in a significant national dialogue about violence and polarization in America,” the statement added.

House members didn’t limit their concerns to the SPLC, also noting:

Funding from George Soros, the Len Collective, and other radical groups has been used to align district attorneys and judges to release criminals onto the streets. This has led to numerous deaths and injuries, including the recent tragic murder of Ukrainian refugee Irina Zaltoska by lesser-known attackers, as well as the shooting of 14 released criminals and former Marines Jimmy Frizenhaan.

The inquiry echoes President Donald Trump’s remarks on Thursday, where he pledged to “identify each person who contributed to this atrocity and other political violence, including the organizations that support it.”

The group’s letter further expressed:

When our fellow Americans and the wealthy executives of foreign interests wage war against our values—our faith in God, adherence to the Constitution, commitment to freedom, and respect for Western civilization—we can no longer claim to share common ideals.

Lawmakers also criticized the “funding provided to international immigration agencies by unrelated U.S. tax-funded migrant agencies,” citing it as a reason for “border invasions” during the Biden administration, which has led to increased crimes related to illegal immigration.

The letter concluded with a call to action: “We must trace the money to identify those behind the orchestrated anti-American assaults we face and take all necessary legal steps to stop them.”
