Cowboys owner Jerry Jones recently expressed confidence in his team’s decision to trade Micah Parsons.
After ongoing discussions about Parsons’ transfer to the Packers, Jones acknowledged that the Cowboys aren’t the only team effectively managing without him.
“There are 30 other teams out there, and they’re doing fine without Micah,” Jones told fans on 105.3 on Friday. “Look at Dion Sanders. Teams can devise strategies that don’t always hinge on individual star players. Many won games without having him on the field.”
Jones reflected on past trades, particularly recalling the successful Herschel Walker deal in 1989, which netted the Cowboys numerous draft picks that helped secure three Super Bowl victories in the 1990s.
Yet, regarding the Parsons trade, he seems convinced that he has positioned Dallas for better current outcomes.
“You can see the difference in team allocations now,” he stated. “Unlike the Herschel Walker deal, which was more about future picks and planning for another chance down the line.”
He noted, “Which option is better? One outstanding player? Sure, he’s exceptional, no doubt. But people will say, ‘He’s not Micah.’ I won’t dispute that because Micah is indeed special.”
Jones’ remarks came shortly after Parsons displayed an impressive performance during Week 2, contributing to a 27-18 victory over Washington. The four-time Pro Bowler registered eight pressures and assisted in half a sack against quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Following the win, fans cheered, “Thank you, Jerry!” referring to the owner while expressing their excitement.
