Supreme Court Lifts Restrictions on LA ICE Raids
Bill Essaylie, U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, discussed the Supreme Court’s recent ruling which has lifted previous restrictions on ICE raids in Los Angeles during a segment on “America Report.”
In a related note, Latin music sensation Bad Bunny mentioned in a Wednesday interview that he hasn’t scheduled any U.S. tour dates for his latest tour. The reason? He doesn’t want his Latin fans to face the risk of being detained by immigration enforcement.
In this interview, conducted by ID, the artist, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, shared that the potential danger of ICE raids made it difficult to include U.S. dates in his “Debi Tirar Mas Fotos World Tour.” He expressed his concerns about the deportation agenda during President Donald Trump’s second term.
He reflected, “There was a problem at [my concert]. It was something I was really worried about,” making it clear how much these issues resonate with him.
The remaining concerts for this tour are planned across Europe, Australia, and South America. There are, however, a few shows set for Puerto Rico, which is a U.S. territory, in September.
He encouraged fans in the U.S. to consider traveling to Puerto Rico or elsewhere to catch his performance, stating, “People in the U.S. could come here to watch the show,” adding that Latino and Puerto Rican audiences could travel anywhere for his concerts.
Bad Bunny also emphasized that he enjoys performing in the U.S., considering his past shows a significant success. “There were plenty of reasons for not including the U.S. in this tour, and none of them are out of hatred – I’ve played there many times. Those shows were epic,” he noted, adding he loves connecting with Latino audiences in the U.S.
When a White House spokesperson was asked about Bad Bunny’s comments, they questioned if the artist only performed for “criminally illegal aliens.”
In a bold move, Bad Bunny has been outspoken about ICE issues. During a trip to Puerto Rico last June, he recorded a video highlighting what he described as a local ICE raid, expressing his discontent in Spanish.
Bad Bunny’s statements reflect deeper sentiments regarding safety and community, pointing to a complex mix of culture and current events affecting artists and their connection with fans.
