Trump Remembers 9/11 Victims Amid Charlie Kirk’s Death

President Donald Trump concluded a week dedicated to honoring those who lost their lives during the 9/11 attacks, expressing his grief over the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Charlie Kirk, 31, was killed during the “American Comeback Tour” event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. His death follows a year marked by two assassination attempts against Trump himself.

“I am filled with sadness and anger about the brutal assassination of Charlie Kirk on a university campus in Utah,” Trump stated in a national address on Wednesday after Kirk’s death was confirmed.

Trump continued, “Charlie has inspired millions, and tonight, everyone who knew and loved him is united in shock and fear. He was a patriot who dedicated his life to public debate and loved this country deeply. He fought for freedom and democracy, and no one was more respected among young people.”

In an interview with Fox & Friends, Trump revealed that he was arrested in connection with Kirk’s assassination, and 22-year-old Tyler Robinson has been identified as the suspect.

“I hope he’s guilty. I think about it a lot, and I hope he’ll receive the maximum penalty,” Trump remarked. “What he did to Charlie is unforgivable. Charlie was a great guy who deserved far better. He worked tirelessly and was beloved by everyone.”

Trump Reflects on 9/11

On Thursday, coinciding with the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Trump, alongside First Lady Melania Trump, visited the Pentagon and New York City, remembering the 2,977 lives lost in the attacks.

“This morning, we remember America’s bravest and the love they displayed in their final moments,” Trump said.

Later that day, Trump visited the New York Yankees’ home clubhouse before attending a game against the Detroit Tigers. He shared a suite with team owners Hal Steinbrenner and President Randy Levine, as fans chanted “USA” before and after the national anthem.

Interestingly, Trump has not been to a baseball game since the 2021 World Series.
