Vince Neil’s Health Challenges and Mötley Crüe’s Hiatus
Vince Neil, the frontman of Mötley Crüe, has opened up about serious health issues that temporarily halted the band’s activities. Neil revealed that he suffered a stroke last Christmas, a situation so severe that his doctors were doubtful he would ever walk again. In a recent interview, he stated, “I had a stroke. The whole left side of me has disappeared.”
Due to these health concerns, Mötley Crüe postponed their Las Vegas residency. Neil mentioned, “I had to learn to walk again, but that was tough.” He recalled going to bed feeling fine but waking up the next day unable to move. “The doctors said they didn’t think I could return to the stage again,” he added.
The band made the decision to cancel part of their residency to allow Neil to focus on his recovery, which was necessary following medical advice. In March, they announced that the residency schedule would change due to Neil’s health requirements.
While recovering at home in Nashville, Neil underwent physical therapy. He described the experience of being so dependent initially that he had to be carried to the bathroom. “I graduated to a walker and then a cane. Now, I don’t need any of that. But getting back to feeling good again was like a full-time job,” he said.
Neil explained how challenging it was for his brain to regain control over his legs. “You try to walk, but it’s not coming out correctly.” Fortunately, he is now around 90 to 95% back to his previous state and preparing to hit the stage once more.
His return to performing kicked off in August alongside Brett Michaels, and recently, he and the rest of Mötley Crüe had their first rescheduled show for their Las Vegas residency. Neil mentioned that their setlist includes fan favorites, along with some deeper cuts.
He expressed excitement about the show, saying, “It takes you into a complete Mötley Crüe lifestyle. I’m going to push the best I can.” The band performed hits that the audience loves, like “Dr. Feelgood” and “Girls, Girls, Girls.” Despite the tough journey he faced, Neil seems ready to embrace performing again.
