Joe Burrow's charity dismisses board member due to Charlie Kirk posts

The Joe Burrow Foundation has dismissed an officer due to insensitive remarks regarding Charlie Kirk’s death.

Ohio Judge Ted Berry was removed from his role after reportedly posting several comments on Facebook about the recent shooting that resulted in the death of a conservative commentator, as noted by a local news outlet.

“The Joe Burrow Foundation believes everyone has a duty to contribute positively,” the organization stated in a message that did not explicitly mention Berry. “We have terminated our advisory committee member who made inappropriate comments in light of recent events. They are no longer associated with the Foundation. Their views do not align with our values or mission. We are dedicated to accountability and respect for all individuals.”

In his initial comment, Berry remarked, “A rest of hatred and division!” This post was made to honor Kirk, as reported by another news source.

In response to another user, Berry commented that Kirk “spewed hatred and division.”

Berry was also quoted saying, “How does he feel about gun violence and gun control in hell right now?” in another online post.

Berry later expressed to the media that he “does not tolerate any form of violence against individuals.”

Update on the shooting involving conservative activist Charlie Kirk

“If I caused a division, I regret it,” Berry reportedly told the news outlet. “That wasn’t my intention, and I hope for peace.”

The Bengals quarterback established a charity in 2022 aimed at providing resources and support to underserved communities, according to the foundation’s site.

Berry is not the first individual from the sports world to lose their position over comments related to Kirk’s murder.

A communications coordinator for the Carolina Panthers was dismissed for an Instagram post regarding Kirk’s assassination. Similarly, a Suns beat reporter was let go from his position due to remarks made on social media.
