Just a day after the tragic passing of conservative icon Charlie Kirk, country star Lee Brice took the stage in Clearwater, Florida. Known for hits like “I Drive Your Truck” and “I Don’t Dance,” Brice, who has won numerous awards including seven ACMs, decided to shake things up by including some rarely performed songs in his set list.
In a reflection shared with Breitbart News, Brice expressed the profound impact Kirk’s death had on him and his band. “We wanted to pay our respects. It was the best way to honor what was dear to him, particularly his faith,” he noted.
In an exclusive video, Brice captured the energy of the crowd by saying, “I typically play some other tracks, but tonight, I want to dedicate a song to Charlie Kirk.”

Brice co-wrote the song “When the Kingdom Comes” with his wife. Although not a regular feature in his performances, he emphasized its significance. He let his voice and guitar express the emotion, resonating deeply with the captivated audience. This song really showcases his talent, and you can feel the weight of every word he sings. As the performance concluded and the audience erupted in applause, one voice stood out saying, “Thank you, brothers.”
“When the Kingdom Comes” was penned by Lee Bryce, Sarah Bryce, Billy Montana, and John Stone. Brice shared further insights with Breitbart News, explaining, “The story behind this song is what my mom calls the true ‘story of the Lord.’ My best friend John Stone initially suggested the title to my wife and me, but life got busy, and it sat on the back burner for a while. Looking back, I realize we were waiting for the right moment. Sometimes, God’s timing truly is better than ours. One night, we had that unmistakable feeling that all songwriters recognize.”
“I wish I could say we sat down and meticulously crafted it, but honestly, it felt more like it was writing itself. It came from somewhere beyond us. The urgency was palpable, as if it was addressing where we are and what the world needs to hear.”
When the Kingdom Comes – Lyrics
Hungry child
On a dirty floor
Lonely man
With his silver porsche
Single mother
In her second shift
Teenage girl
There are scars on the wrist
When the kingdom comes
When we all know why
When you look at the sun
Please sway around the sky
Nothin’ will leave
Nothin’ has left, but love
When the kingdom comes
When the kingdom comes
All the crushed souls
All skin tones
All the wounded hearts
I’ll hit beat again
I’m going to find their way
I’m going to feel the cost
Some iron claws
And a wooden cross
When the kingdom comes
When we all know why
When you look at the sun
Please sway around the sky
Nothin’ will leave
Nothin’ has left, but love
When the kingdom comes
When the kingdom comes
The first is the last
And the last one is the first
Don’t get hungry
It’s not thirst
When the kingdom comes
When we all know why
When you look at the sun
Please sway around the sky
Nothin’ will leave
Nothin’ has left, but love
When the kingdom comes
When the kingdom comes
When the kingdom comes
