First Hawaiian Bank launches new branch in Lahaina Cannery Mall

First Hawaiian Bank Opens New Branch in Lahaina

On Friday, First Hawaiian Bank celebrated the opening of its new branch at Lahaina Cannery Mall. This full-service location aims to provide a variety of personal and business banking services alongside financial advisory support.

Bob Harrison, the president and CEO, expressed a strong commitment to the Lahaina community, stating, “We are deeply committed to serving Lahaina and ensuring the support and partnership that this community deserves to grow again.” He also noted that reopening the Lahaina branch presents a chance to collaborate with customers and neighbors as they work towards rebuilding.

In addition to this new branch, plans for restoring the original Lahaina branch have also been announced. The bank mentioned that it would resume operations in historic locations once it is safe and approved, ensuring that it aligns with broader community restoration efforts.

The new 1,467-square-foot branch is thoughtfully designed with the community’s needs in mind. It features a unique art installation by local artist Chief Morinoue, inspired by Lahaina’s story of renewal. The branch includes a meeting room, two dedicated offices, three teller stations (with one specifically for merchant services), an ATM, and an overnight depository.

Environmental sustainability was a key focus during construction, including the use of low VOC interior finishes and reusable equipment wherever feasible. This branch can be found at 1221 Honoapi’ilani Highway, Suite A-3, in Lahaina Cannery Mall and is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4 PM.

To further aid the youth impacted by the recent wildfires, First Hawaiian Bank has donated $25,000 to IMUA Family Services, a local nonprofit that provides essential resources for children of all abilities, helping them thrive in a supportive environment.

Dean Wong, CEO of IMUA Family Services, reflected on the donation, saying, “This gift will help you walk with families across Lahaina and Maui, providing resources and encouragement at times when the community needs it most.” It’s a reminder that even in challenging times, support can make a difference.

Currently, First Hawaiian Bank operates six branches on Maui, employing a team of 50. The new Lahaina branch will add more positions, with various roles like bank consultants and personal bankers planned to support ongoing growth.
