Utah Governor Discusses Assassination Suspect
Utah Governor Spencer Cox recently shared that Tyler Robinson, the suspect in Charlie Kirk’s assassination, has not been cooperating with investigators. Interestingly, the gunman’s boyfriend is transgender.
During several interviews on a Sunday morning talk show, Cox mentioned that both Robinson’s romantic partner and his family are assisting the FBI with the investigation into Kirk’s murder.
He also emphasized that Robinson has “deeply instilled leftist ideology.” This comment aroused curiosity about the specific beliefs Robinson holds, although the governor did not provide further details. He had previously referred to Robinson as “deeply indoctrinated” in a conversation with the Wall Street Journal.
“That information comes from people around him, his family and friends,” Cox explained on CNN’s “The State of the Union.” He added that there had been conversations specifically about Charlie Kirk.
Authorities continue to investigate and prepare to establish motives as they look to file charges against the 22-year-old suspect on Tuesday.
Cox confirmed reports about Robinson’s transgender roommate but was cautious in linking that to the shooter’s motives. “Roommates are romantic partners and men are transitioning to women,” he said, noting that this supportive partner is now aiding the investigation.
Cox also recently discussed the shooting with President Trump. “It was a long conversation we talked about a lot, but it was very calm,” he remarked. The governor acknowledged Trump’s anger due to personal ties, saying, “I understand that he’s very angry too, and I know this is his close personal friend. Anger is a normal response.”
