North Dakota Woman Arrested After Attack on Boyfriend
A woman in North Dakota is facing serious charges after allegedly attacking her boyfriend while he was asleep. Reports indicate that Lena DeOlivira, 23, hit her partner, Jonathan Granados, with a hatchet. Even during her arrest, she reportedly managed to smile, which is definitely an unexpected reaction in such a situation.
Authorities responded to an incident at a garage where Granados was taken to the emergency room for his injuries. The details shared in court documents provided by local news indicate that Granados suffered severe wounds.
Another individual who was present in the garage identified DeOlivira as the attacker and noted that she might have been homeless at the time, staying on different couches around the neighborhood. It’s a bit uncertain how things escalated, as the witness described waking up to find blood around him and a chaotic scene as DeOlivira was allegedly striking Granados.
The witness recalled hearing a sound that he compared to splitting wood, although he didn’t see the exact moment of the attack. He mentioned approaching Granados and noticing some of his fingers were either missing or severely injured, which paints a pretty horrific picture.
An official account from police also noted visible blood marks in the garage afterward. Granados later told investigators that he had been attacked without any prior warning. His injuries were serious, including significant damage to his head and fingers.
DeOlivira managed to flee the scene but was arrested without incident a short time later on September 7th in Moorhead, as per statements from local authorities.
In her mugshot, she can be seen with a somewhat peculiar grin, which is striking given the circumstances. Currently, she is being held on a $500,000 bond and has a court appearance scheduled for October 16 in Cass County.
