U.S. Cancels Visa for Brazilian Neurosurgeon Who Praised Charlie Kirk's Killing

The U.S. has reportedly moved to revoke the visa of Brazilian neurosurgeon Ricardo Barbosa following his public celebration of the murder of Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA.

In a post that has since been deleted, Barbosa expressed approval for the actions of the shooter, calling it a “perfect purpose” and referencing “cervical spine” with surgical precision.

“This content is among the coldest I’ve ever seen,” noted Deputy Secretary of State Chris Landau. “Here’s a neurosurgeon not just celebrating the assassin’s actions, but accurately pointing out the method involved. This is a licensed professional, someone expected to adhere to the principles of Hippocrates.”

He also called on Brazilian authorities to investigate Barbosa, who vocally stated that he wishes harm upon those with opposing political views.

The day after Kirk was murdered on September 10, Landau highlighted that foreigners who glorify violence are not welcome in America, referring to various offensive posts made after Kirk’s death.

Consequently, he instructed consular officials to respond accordingly and encouraged the public to report such comments made by foreigners.

“Please bring such remarks to my attention so that @Statedept can safeguard Americans,” he stated.

When asked about the possibility of revoking the visa of someone celebrating Kirk’s murder, President Donald Trump stated, “We’re reviewing the names… we don’t condone any celebration of violence from across the waters.”

Landau’s appeal aligns with other officials advocating for stricter accountability from those who condone violence. Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) is pushing the Department of Education to withdraw federal funding from schools that employ individuals who celebrate Kirk’s murder. Meanwhile, Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) is encouraging locals to report such cases.

“If you know of anyone in Florida District 6 working for the government or any entity that has taken public funding and has publicly celebrated violence, please reach out to my office. I will seek their dismissal, refunds, and revocation of their licenses.”
