The Biden administration’s FBI has been looking into various conservative organizations, including the late Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA, under a broader investigation known as “Arctic Frosts.”
During a hearing on Tuesday, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) discussed the scope of these Arctic Frost investigations with FBI director Kash Patel, who mentioned that new whistleblower evidence has emerged.
Grassley indicated that what started as a probe into efforts to overturn the 2020 election has now broadened to encompass a range of conservative groups, including the Republican National Committee, among others.
He also noted that at least one FBI agent seemed eager to pursue charges against Trump adviser Peter Navarro related to Congressional Empty.
Grassley stated:
Arctic frost was initiated by anti-Trump FBI agents, specifically [Timothy] Thibaud. It evolved into the Jack Smith electoral case against citizen Trump, now President Trump. New records indicate that Arctic Frost has expanded beyond election-related matters, targeting Republican organizations. Notable groups included in this inquiry are the Republican National Committee, the Republican Attorney General Association, and various Trump-aligned political groups. Altogether, 92 Republican targets, spanning both organizations and individuals, were included in the Arctic Frost investigation. This list featured Turning Point USA, which is connected to Charlie Kirk. Essentially, Arctic Frost isn’t merely a political investigation of Trump; it’s a means for partisan FBI agents and DOJ prosecutors to fulfill their political objectives and to scrutinize the entire Republican political landscape. Therefore, Senator Johnson [of Wisconsin] and I are making these records public, hoping to alert many to the implications of politically charged governmental actions. My investigative efforts also revealed the tactics used to charge Peter Navarro. When FBI agent Thibaud learned of the Biden DOJ’s intent to indict Navarro, he reportedly exclaimed, “Wow, great.” That’s a direct quote.
A “Arctic frost” was highlighted in January, prompting calls for Senate investigation.
Kirk was tragically killed last Wednesday while engaging with a student at Utah Valley University.
