Investigation into Controversial Incident at US Cycling Event

Authorities in Livermore, California, are probing an incident from a cycling event held on Sunday. This event saw the organizers publicly criticize female sports activists who raised questions regarding sexual testing protocols.

A spokesperson from the Livermore Police Department stated, “Currently, we are looking into this issue and going through both the report and video evidence.”

Videos showcasing the interactions from the Auckland Grand Prix event with USA Cycling have recently gained traction online.

Beth Bourne, a California-based activist known for opposing the participation of biological male athletes in female sports, was recorded asking organizers whether female competitors had undergone sexual testing to verify they were not male. One of the organizers was later seen approaching Bourne and obstructing her camera, stating, “We have a policy. Filming needs to stop.”

Bourne responded with, “Give me my phone!”

Footage indicates that another organizer approached her from behind, urging her to leave the premises.

Bourne described the experience as “emotional,” expressing surprise and fear about the escalation. “Honestly, it was frightening. I worried about my safety with that individual,” she said.

Additional video showed the same organizer who confronted Bourne taking action against her protest materials. He allegedly placed a pizza box in front of her camera and discarded her protest sign into a trash bin nearby.

Bourne claimed that the organizers told her, “Your God won’t protect you,” while accusing her of being “a terrible person full of hate” as he disposed of her belongings.

Attempts to reach out to USA Cycling for a statement received no response.

During the same event, confrontations included derogatory comments regarding another viral video featuring transgender cyclist Chelsea Wolfe.

Wolfe, who previously represented Team USA in BMX, has made headlines for controversial social media posts regarding political issues. Recently, she shared content celebrating a violent incident against a public figure.

In response to Wolfe’s posts, USA Cycling clarified, “The viewpoints of current and prior national team athletes are their own and do not represent US Cycling. Chelsea Wolfe hasn’t been part of the national team since 2023.”
