Hawley Details Consequences for Those Who Finance Riots

Accountability for Funding Violence

During an appearance on Fox News’ Jesse Watters Primetime, Republican Senator Josh Hawley from Missouri stated that individuals or entities financing violent acts should face legal repercussions.

This discussion coincided with remarks made by FBI Director Kash Patel during a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting. Patel emphasized the importance of tracking the financial sources behind crimes, particularly those rooted in ideology or aimed at individuals of faith. He pointed to unrest in cities like Los Angeles, suggesting that there are external financiers involved. Watters asked Hawley whether lawmakers could hold these funders accountable for their actions.

“You absolutely shouldn’t intentionally finance criminal activities. If you examine these gatherings and the planned nature of the riots, it’s clear the financial backers ought to be aware of what they’re supporting,” Hawley remarked. “These are clever individuals. That’s likely why they’ve kept this money concealed within their networks for such a long time. They understand the implications of their funding, so I believe accountability is essential.”

“If you’re funding riots that harm citizens or attack law enforcement, resulting in destruction, that’s criminal. You should be held accountable in court for that. This is why [FBI Director] Kash Patel’s focus on financial sources is a significant development,” he added.

In June, Patel indicated that the agency would investigate the financiers behind protests targeting U.S. immigration policies in Los Angeles.

Protests and riots escalated amid the Trump administration’s strict stance on illegal immigration. Violent crowds have reportedly damaged federal property, set vehicles ablaze, and obstructed police efforts.

Patel’s comments followed revelations linking several leftist groups to the unrest, including connections to the Party for Socialism and Liberation and the Chinese Communist Party billionaire Neville Roy Singham. Additionally, a report highlighted that some activist groups involved in the protests received both state and federal funding, as per financial documents from California.
