Eagles player responds to critics of the tush push technique

Jordan Mailata’s Take on the Tush Push Controversy

Jordan Mailata, the offensive lineman for the Philadelphia Eagles, has voiced his thoughts on the ongoing criticism of the Tush Push play, especially following the game against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2. Fans on social media pointed out that some Eagles players appeared to jump offside prior to the snap during this play. Additionally, there were concerns about having too many men on the line of scrimmage.

Mailata expressed his frustration, stating in an interview with 94 WIP in Philadelphia, “I understand the anger. But what I don’t quite get is how some people use it to justify why they won the game. It feels unfair to our defense and special teams—who really stepped up. I put in a great effort as well, even when things weren’t going smoothly.”

The discussion around the Tush Push intensified after it survived a vote that could have led to it being banned in offseason practices. Mailata mentioned how the scrutiny over this play, while understandable, has overshadowed the contributions of the entire team. “Honestly, it’s a little frustrating. It’s just part of football, right?” he added, emphasizing that they have worked hard in every position.

As the Eagles head into their season, the controversy around the Tush Push seems to have stirred a growing crowd of critics, despite the team’s success in the previous season, where they clinched a Super Bowl title.
