Lavar Ball Shows Off New Prosthetic Leg
Lavar Ball is looking good as he displays his new prosthetic leg about seven months after undergoing an amputation of part of his right leg.
The highlight came in a video he shared on the Big Baller brand’s Instagram page on Tuesday. “Big Baller’s back, baby! Yes, certainly,” he exclaimed.
In another clip, he, along with the fathers of basketball players Lonzo, LiAngelo, and LaMelo Ball, appears to be leaving the clinic where they got their prosthetics. “I didn’t think I was going to move this fast,” he mentions as he hops into the passenger seat of an SUV.
The 57-year-old first had his leg amputated and then underwent a further amputation around the knee due to complications from a diabetes-related infection. He also experienced a blood transfusion during this time.
Reflecting on his experiences, he wrote in a March essay for Slam, “All these surgeries and blood transfusions made me question whether it was worth it. I thought, ‘Man, just kill me and let me do my business.’ At times, I felt it was probably time to shut it down.”
However, Lavar believes that the support from his sons helped him through this challenging ordeal. “I’m a big baller. I’m hard to kill, but I have to admit that my boy kept rolling me,” he noted. Despite feeling overwhelmed at times, he acknowledged, “I’m here for a bigger purpose.”
While LiAngelo has yet to make his mark in the NBA, he stirred some attention recently with his rap song “Tweaker.” Meanwhile, 27-year-old Lonzo has faced injuries that sidelined him for two full seasons, but he returned to play 35 games last season, averaging 7.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.3 assists before being traded to the Cavaliers in July.
24-year-old LaMelo is also dealing with injuries, but he managed to average 25.2 points per game, along with 7.4 assists and 4.9 rebounds during the previous season with the Hornets.
