Arizona Considers Memorial Highway for Charlie Kirk
Arizona is moving forward with a proposal to dedicate a highway in memory of Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, who spent much of his life in the state. This law is being introduced by Arizona Senate President Warren Petersen in the upcoming session set to begin in January.
Petersen expressed his thoughts on this initiative, stating, “Wednesday, September 10th, 2025, will forever be marked as a dark day in our history, revealing its true form of evil.” He emphasized that Kirk, who was tragically murdered, was targeted because of his influence, and while he can’t be replaced, efforts to honor him will keep his legacy alive.
The idea of naming highways after notable figures isn’t new in Arizona. For instance, Loop 303 in Maricopa County is named Bob’s Stump Memorial Parkway, honoring a late congressman, while Loop 202 pays tribute to the late Congressman Ed Pastor.
Petersen further mentioned, “We all have a role in preserving Charlie’s legacy. By renaming this highway through, I suppose, divine grace, we can ensure his mission and teachings continue for future generations.”
Following the assassination of Kirk at Utah Valley University last Wednesday, Arizona has become a focal point of discussion. Turning Point USA has announced a significant public ceremony to take place at Arizona Football Stadium, which is expected to draw tens of thousands of attendees. Speakers for the event will include Kirk’s wife, Erica, along with President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
Moreover, Tyler Bowyer from Turning Point Action shared his personal connection, noting that the highway is where he grew up, and many activists from the area contributed to the growth of TPUSA. It seems that this memorial will resonate deeply with many who knew and admired Kirk.
