A 17-year-old golf prodigy has tragically passed away unexpectedly while participating in a homecoming prank with a friend in Georgia.
Hadden Kelly, a junior at Dodge County High School in Eastman, was found unresponsive on Monday morning. The prank involved throwing rolls of toilet paper over various objects, which highlights his fun-loving spirit and camaraderie with friends.
Dodge County Coroner Joe Smith, who is also Kelly’s great-uncle, noted that the reason for the teenager’s collapse is still unknown, and an autopsy is underway to clarify the circumstances of his death.
Describing Hadden, Smith remarked on his charismatic nature and talent on the golf course, calling him a promising athlete.
“If he doesn’t pass, I swear he’s a professional,” Smith added, noting that Hadden was consistently active in sports and worked at the Dodge County Golf Club.
Kelly was preparing to compete in the upcoming State Golf Tournament and was considered one of the finest athletes by his school.
His sudden death has left classmates, the school community, and the golf team he led in disbelief.
One of his teammates shared their admiration on social media, saying, “Hadden loves golf, and the golf team certainly loves Hadden.” They remembered him for his leadership, drive, and infectious positivity.
His coach remarked on Kelly’s determination to help his teammates succeed, often waiting for them to finish before celebrating their accomplishments.
Dodge County High School officials have expressed their heartfelt condolences to Hadden’s grieving family.
In a statement, they conveyed the profound sadness felt by the school community, urging everyone to pray for Hadden’s family and friends. “Though he has disappeared from our sight, he will never be forgotten,” they said.
