Thune to Advance 48 Trump Nominees This Week, Larger Groups Coming Soon

WASHINGTON – Senator John Thune shared with Breitbart News that there’s a significant lineup of Democratic candidates for President Donald Trump, with 48 ready for confirmation in the Senate this Thursday.

In recent weeks, Thune has taken steps to modify the Senate’s confirmation process, aiming to dismantle the Democratic blockade orchestrated by Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer. This unusual move has impacted several widely supported presidential candidates from across the aisle, which Thune is addressing first. Among the 48 candidates set for final confirmation, there’s anticipation of including notable figures such as Trump’s appointee, Kimberly Guilfoyle, ambassador to Greece.

“As we’ve talked about before, President Trump has the right to present his team to ensure the agenda that voters approved last November can move forward,” Thune remarked during a phone interview with Breitbart News on Tuesday. “He’s the only president in history who hasn’t had a single civil candidate confirmed through voice vote or unanimous consent this far into his presidency. The long-standing blockade is about to change. We intend to initiate this process this week. These tactics, well, they need to be addressed as we set things in motion.”

Thune had officially disclosed earlier this month his intention to reform the US Senate’s operations to sidestep Democratic hindrances in an exclusive for Breitbart News. Even though many Democrats have suggested a bipartisan approach to move things forward, they have chosen not to accept that. Instead, there seems to be a deliberate effort to obstruct the prompt confirmation of several candidates who play pivotal roles in U.S. national security. In fact, Thune indicated in the interview that the Democrats’ blockade is jeopardizing American national security due to their unreasonable animosity toward the president and his supporters. He affirmed that all 53 Senate Republicans are united behind his initiative to overcome this deadlock because of what he described as the Democrats’ shortsightedness.

“It’s absolutely true. Senate Democrats are compromising American national security across the globe due to their anti-Trump mentality,” Thune claimed. “These roles are crucial and need to be filled. Historically, it has always been accepted that elected presidents receive their teams, which has been standard practice. The world requires representatives in these vital positions. Until now, the president hasn’t had that support, hence our solidarity among Republicans.”

After confirming this first group of 48 candidates from Trump on Thursday, Thune mentioned that the next larger group would follow, aiming to tackle the Senate’s “backlog.” He also suggested that the Democrats’ behavior appears almost irrational given their clear disdain for Trump.

“We’ve got these first 48 because they have bipartisan support,” Thune noted when asked about the potential for larger candidate groups in the future. “Schumer claims they are historically unqualified candidates. If that’s the case, then why, Chuck, are Democrats walking away from committee votes that overwhelmingly support them? Most committee members are in favor. By bringing in these bipartisan candidates, we can clear the way forward, so the next group will be even larger. We really needed to address this backlog. This whole anti-Trump mindset is excessive. I understand that Schumer is under pressure from his base. It feels a bit pathological to me, but allowing these candidates into positions will not only secure the country but also contribute to its strength and future prosperity.”
